The Video

You can watch a clip of the much talked about incident here. I don't know how long it will stay online.

Is BB destroying lives for its own benefit?

From the footage I have seen, it seems pretty clear to me that although Camilla did not explicitly say so, she was consentful to the whole event. Although John held her down, he did not do so with force and all housemates involved understood that there was not the slightest air of malice in the 'practical joke'. At no point does she seem to have lost trust in her friends. Even in her own words, when Camilla told John and Ash to stop, they stopped. She was given the chance from big brother to make a complaint but she refused because she did not think it was a serious issue.

I'm not defending the actions of John and Ash, what they did was obscene. I do however feel that the way the BB producers handled the incident should be put under scutiny.

It was the Big Brother producers themselves that decided, without consultation with the victim, to remove the two boys from the house. The producers must surely have been aware that dismissing two housemates from the house for the first time in the show's history (apart from Warrick Capper) would generate huge scrutiny over what caused the immediate eviction.

The Police were given the opportunity to investigate the incident but found there was no evidence to suggest a sexual assault even though there is substantial footage documenting the event.

However, the extreme media focus on John and Ash that their surprise eviction brought, will mean that they will have to live the rest of their lives infamously for having been involved in alleged "sexual misconduct" on a TV show broadcast nationally.

Imagine what its going to be like for them from now on, trying to get a job, promotions or scholarships, making new friends or reestablishing trust with old friends. It will be extremely hard for them and I think its quite unfair. They will be forever tagged with this incident, even though at the end of the day, they had consent from Camilla. Their lives could be ruined.

The details of the event should have been dealt with behind close doors and should never have been brought to the public's attention. The producers of the show know perfectly well what effect the housemates exposure to the public already has on the contestants' lives once they return to the outside world.

If they truly considered the incident was as serious as they have made it out to be, they would have made the resolution of the issue their complete priority and temporarily ceased production of the show. It seems to me that their creative advisors were being consulted more heavily then their legal advisors and even less thought was given to the reputations of two men under question.

You have to seriously question whether they have used the event as a publicity stunt to bolster their ratings. If so, what they have done is far more morally corrupt then the actions of Ashley and John.

Two Weeks

Well Well Well, looks like we have a start date.

BB06 seems to be kicking off at 7.30pm Sunday the 23rd of April. An hour before The Grates play in Fremantle... for those who... i dunno, live in Fremantle and like the Grates.

Anybody out there got any hot tips on possible housemates or house details? Send it through.

In the mean time, you can try and spy on what they are up to at the Big Brother house with Google maps. Note, if you scroll down you'll see the giant eye on top of the BB studio.

Holy Smoke

Wow, so I haven't blogged for almost two weeks now because after the twins were busted, most of my interest in the show evaporated. However, I happened to catch some of the last two Friday night uplates and man, there was enough action in those two shows to supply the producers with content for the entire series. What did I tell you at the start of the series? Alcohol is the key.

Any chance Gianna had of staying in the house was blown after she got drunk and went on a rampage last week. She's nominated now and after showing a distinct lack of modesty she will almost certainly leave this week at the hands of the key voting demographic.

So what exactly went on between Glenn and Geneva last night? It obviously got that serious that Mike G had to butt in and 'give them some privacy'. Was it just to boost ratings for uncut on monday night (9.30pm) or was it not appropriate for TV?

Exciting.

Then of course this week's team of drunken award room girls heard the news and the drama began. Michelle and Kate just can't decide who they like. Glenn? Greg? Either way they now have some stiff competition from Christie and Geneva.

To make it more complicated I know for sure that Kate won't be able to get David out of her mind after he pulled those dance moves on her. Call him Mr Smooth!

Unfortunately, it has become clear that David has another thing on his mind. Tim. The two of them spent most of the night frolicking in their pick shirts and then later wrestling alone in the pool, with plenty of dreamy eye contact in between. It was true love. So maybe the gay twin rumors are true.

It was pretty damn funny Christie being locked in the airlock. Finally, BB is back on track this year and on Sunday it looks like we are getting two new housemates.

Let the drunken drama continue.

Friday

On BB uplate last night, Mike indicated that Ryan was not the only former housemate to be joining him as host of the Friday Night Live show. Apparently Bree from BB4 will be co-hosting as well. Cool.

Not so cool is other previous housemates getting attention after having $25,000 worth of plastic surgery.

So what will they be doing on this Live show? Well it will happen in some sort of gaming compound that is attached to the BB house. Sounds interesting. Anyway, they have released some details here. Apparently they will be rocking out on Gingers, using them as chariots. Awesome.

Apparently Nelson has confessed that he kept his outside relationship secret throughout the audition process, right from the start. So he could be yet another contender to be the star of Sunday's show.

The Logans
The Logans seem to have stopped maintaining their scars, I wonder when the other housemates will notice.

I'm pretty sure in the background on uplate last night I heard Constance talking about how Logan's hair cut seemed to have changed a little (she is a hairdresser) and he had a fuller face. I wasn't able to establish what context those comments where in before they cut to another conversation. It's true though, one of the Logans has a leaner face then the other. Suspicion of their character is defiantly starting to increase.

Sunday Trouble

I noticed in an advert that they are having a special show this Sunday because someone lied to get in the house. It could simply be the people who lied about being single or not, but it could be something else.

I'm pretty sure on Sunday, when she first entered the house, Constance told the girls that she was single. Now after reading some of the online diary, It appears to me that she does have a boyfriend in the outside world.

There has also been some startling revelations about Housemate Gianna Pattison. It turns out she might not have turned down as many proposals as she claims, its rumored that she is engaged.

However, most importantly, I'm from Perth and I have already heard some gossip about Hotdogs. Apparently he fabricated the entire identity of "Hotdogs" purely for the auditions just to try and catch the producer's eye. Clearly it worked.

Hmm, so who will be in trouble on Sunday?

Important Facts To Know So Far

Important Facts To Know So Far:

  • Michelle has fake breasts and fake hair and she let everyone touch them to prove it.
  • Gianna on the other hand claims hers are real despite Michael claiming they felt like a brick in a bra after he touched them.
  • "Having a stick" is currently the frontrunner to be the term used to describe masturbation in the house this year.
  • Glenn is a Degrassi Junior High Fan.
  • Christie lives with her ex-boyfriend's family... Weird.
Anyone else gathered any other strange information so far?

And So It Begins...

Well, I've watched most of the new series so far. I haven't been particularly impressed with the group of housemates this year, there is just nobody that I has caught my attention, nobody I can back. I think only Glenn I have found amusing, he fits his stereotype so well, I'm sure he must already be the favorite to win in the betting.

However, I have been totally won over by the Twins concept, it is a fantastic idea. That first change over where they had to swap information in 3 minutes, that was some of the best "reality TV" I have ever seen. It was intense.

To think what was going through the second Logan's mind as he walked into that house for the first time, which he has never seen before and talk to people that he has never seen or spoken to before and yet they accept him none the wiser, it blows my mind. I think its a case of wonderful dramatic irony.

Hopefully the relationship will develop between Logan and Gianna, that could really stir things up. I think the girls will notice the changes a lot earlier then the men.

Logan was my first suspect as to who was the impostor as I was watching on Sunday night, purely because they didn't show him entering the house like they did with the other housemates.

Yeah so, at least the next two weeks will be interesting with the twin saga. I wonder what they will do tonight with Michelle's Birthday party? Which Logan will be let into the house? I feel sorry for the one left in the isolation room.

Will they swap them half way through?
Will one of them get drunk and tell all? give it away? snog a girl?

Less then one week to go.

Well as you should all know by now, considering the mass promotion on Channel 10 with those silly ads with Gretel, Big Brother begins this Sunday, May 8th.

The Official Site is back online, although the "new design" scheme that has been hyped up is rather fugly.

Suprise suprise, there is going to be a "twist" this year. Let's hope that the twist is more exciting this year and the housemates don't know what it is, like Trevor knew last year.

No matter what crap they try and spin, it still doesn't change what in reality is the key ingredient to an interesting Big Brother...

Alcohol.

Every season, everything exciting that has happned has been due, purely and simply, to the consumption of the juice of the gods. It doesn't matter how young and slutty the housemates are, nothings going to happen, people are going to get really talking, without a bit of piss. Social Lubrication.

So, Big Brother, for our sake, let the juices flow.

Apparently there is a Big Brother Brainteaser going around that is meant to give us a clue what the twist is.

Anyone got any thoughts as to what it might be?

The Build Up Continues

Well, as you would expect, the build up to the new season continues. I'm not exactly sure when it begins though? Any of you guys know?

I encourage people to contribute to the comments feature at the bottom of each post. That's the best way to create a good and informative community, hopefully free of the censure that plagues other Big Brother fan sites. True to the spirit of the old Big Brother Boards.

Anyway, I came across this article that claims to already know who the favorite for Big Brother 2005 is. Nice, I wonder if that guy's chances of being included in the final group have increased or plummeted? The later probably, I think I remember that in previous years they have kicked out potential housemates who have been let out of the bag prematurely.

As reader mao pointed out in a comment below, the website now claims that one tonne of prepared tomato pasta sauce has been ordered. It makes sense I guess, they usually make a lot of pasta. Especially season three with Vincent and his special recipe. Or maybe it could be used in one of these new beaut tasks they claim to be working so hard on. One tonne wouldn't be enough to fill the pool though, so it can't be anything as cool as that and that would be cool!

What's Gretal been up to?

Posing for a portrait it seems. Looking a little older, a little wiser. Perhaps the Saxon affair took its toll. I'm pretty sure I heard that the relationship was called off a while ago, but my limited internet research didn't show up much to support that.

No worries though, "She has very interesting hands".

The New Season

It may just have been my imagination, but I'm pretty sure I was watching TV and I saw a flash of words that seemed to mention that all the housemates will be single this year?

Finally! You'd think that they would have tried this already! It's just such and obvious idea to guarantee an interesting season. Pretty much the only interesting "storylines" that have occured without some stuff-up have been related to a love story, yet there has only been a couple of stories of love or sexual tension.

They must have finally come to their senses that non-singles aren't inclined to cheat on their partner on national TV. I could have told you that after the first season.

I also saw a flash that there will be more then 12 housemates, although, that isn't such a big deal, it's been done in previous years, so what's the big deal? The official site, as blank as it is at the moment, offers up a few clues:

"Ten pregnancy empathy bellies ordered."

I'm guessing that there could be at least 10 female housemates. Of course, there is nothing to say that male housemates couldn't wear them, I'm just taking an educated guess.

I wonder...
